Philip Anthony Blake (born November 27, 1985) is a Canadian professional football offensive lineman for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at Baylor University. He has also been a member of the Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, Montreal Alouettes, and Toronto Argonauts.
Blake attended Tyler Junior College in 2008. Prior to 2009, he transferred to Baylor University. In his three years at Baylor, he started all 38 games at either center or right tackle. As a senior, he was an All-Big 12 selection. [1]
He was drafted by the Montreal Alouettes in the 2011 CFL Draft, but decided to return to Baylor. [2] He later was drafted in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos with the pick they received from the New York Jets in exchange for Tim Tebow. [3]
After being drafted by the Denver Broncos in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft, [4] Blake signed with the team on June 1, 2012. [5] He never dressed for a regular season game with the team and was released on August 31, 2013.
On September 2, 2013, the Arizona Cardinals signed Blake to their practice squad. The Cardinals released Blake on August 30, 2014. [6]
After spending the 2014 season out of football, Blake signed a three-year contract with the Montreal Alouettes on January 8, 2015. [7]
On October 10, 2018, Blake was traded alongside teammate Patrick Lavoie to the Saskatchewan Roughriders in exchange for wide receiver Joshua Stanford and a second-round selection in the 2020 CFL Draft. [8]
On February 11, 2020, Blake signed with the Toronto Argonauts. [9] However, he did not play in 2020 due to the cancellation of the 2020 CFL season and he re-structured his contract with the Argonauts on January 31, 2021. [10] Blake played in 11 games for the Argonauts in 2021 and also played in the team's East Final loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats that year. In 2022, he played and started in 17 regular season games and made the shift to left tackle late in the season as the team endured injuries. [11] Blake started at left tackle in the 109th Grey Cup game and won his first Grey Cup championship as the Argonauts defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 24–23. [12] He became a free agent upon the expiry of his contract on February 14, 2023. [13]
On February 14, 2023, it was announced that Blake had signed with the Roughriders. [14]
On January 25, 2024, the Roughriders announced that Blake had signed a one-year contract extension with the team. [15]
Chad Owens Sr. is an American former professional football wide receiver and kick returner who played for three years in the National Football League (NFL) and nine years in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Owens played college football at Hawaii. He spent six seasons playing for the Toronto Argonauts, and has also been a member of the Montreal Alouettes, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and Saskatchewan Roughriders.
John Edward Avery, Jr. is an American former professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football for the Ole Miss Rebels and was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the first round of the 1998 NFL draft with the 29th overall pick. Avery played in the NFL for the Dolphins, Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings. He played in the CFL for the Edmonton Eskimos and Toronto Argonauts. He was also in the XFL with the Chicago Enforcers.
Jarious K. Jackson is an American professional football coach and former player who is the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He has also been a coach for the Toronto Argonauts, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and BC Lions. Jackson played professionally as a quarterback in the CFL for eight seasons with the Lions and one year with the Argonauts where he won three Grey Cup championships in 2006, 2011, and 2012. He has also been a member of the Denver Broncos (NFL), to whom he was drafted 214th overall in the 2000 NFL Draft, and the Barcelona Dragons. Jackson played college football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Diamond M. Ferri is a former American and Canadian football linebacker and American football running back who played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Syracuse University.
Aaron Hunt is a professional Canadian football defensive tackle who most recently played for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.
Ryan Dinwiddie is the head coach of the Toronto Argonauts and is a former professional Canadian football quarterback. After playing college football at Boise State University, he went undrafted and signed with the Chicago Bears, however he was cut from their training camp. Dinwiddie later went on to play professionally for the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europe, and also played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.

He played both football and basketball at The Citadel.
Joshua Paul Bell is an American professional football defensive backs coach and pass game coordinator for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played defensive back for nine years in the National Football League (NFL) and the CFL. He was originally signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He played college football at Baylor.
Cassius M. Vaughn is a former Canadian football defensive back. He was signed by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He played college football at Ole Miss. Vaughn has also played for the Indianapolis Colts, Detroit Lions, Baltimore Ravens and San Diego Chargers in the National Football League (NFL). He made his CFL debut in 2016 with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Corey Jermaine Chamblin is an American football coach who is the defensive coordinator and safeties coach for the Birmingham Stallions of the United Football League (UFL). He was previously the defensive backs coach for the San Antonio Brahmas. He is a former professional gridiron football defensive back and was signed by the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL) as an undrafted free agent in 1999. He played college football at Tennessee Tech. Patrick Lavoie is a Canadian former professional football fullback who played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Montreal Alouettes, Ottawa Redblacks, Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Argonauts. He won the Grey Cup with the Redblacks in 2016. He played CIS football for the Laval Rouge et Or and won Vanier Cup championships in 2008 and 2010.
