Pongtiku Airport( IATA : TTR, ICAO : WAFT) is a defunct airport in Rantetayo, Tana Toraja Regency, Province South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It had a 1,300 meter runway and was served by ATR 42 and Fokker 50 aircraft. [3] The airport was closed on 4 September 2020 with the opening of the Buntu Kunik Airport. [4]

The town of Makale is the administrative centre of Tana Toraja Regency, in South Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. The town had about 39,040 inhabitants in mid 2021. It is in the northern part of South Sulawesi and can be reached by bus from Makassar.

Formerly this regency was the northern part of Tana Toraja Regency, but on 24 June 2008 the northeastern 36% of the latter's area was split off to form this separate North Toraja Regency. It covers an area of 1,289.13 km2 and had a population of 216,762 at the 2010 census and 261,086 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 261,652, comprising 133,529 males and 128,123 females.

Mathilda Batlayeri Airport is an airport located in Amfutu, Tumbur Village, Wertamrian district, Tanimbar Islands Regency, Maluku, Indonesia. The airport replaced the old Olilit Airport to the south, which has fallen into disuse. The airport is named after Mathilda Batlayeri, a heroine originating from Tanimbar Islands who died at South Kalimantan in 1953 while fighting the Darul Islam rebel movement. Construction of the airport started in 2005. The airport began operation on 9 May 2014 after years of delay of construction of the airport. The airport currently can only accommodate airplanes up to the ATR-72, since the runway currently only has a length of 1.850 m. However, the government is planning to extend the runway to 2,500 m in 2019. The runway would also be widened to 45 m from the current 30 m <. This would allow the airport to accommodate larger aircraft such as the Boeing 737, Fokker 100 and the Airbus A320.

Maleo Airport is an airport located at Morowali, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The airport was inaugurated on May 27, 2018. The Airport has a land area of 158 hectares.

Jesus Buntu Burake is a Roman Catholic statue of Jesus Christ at Makale in Tana Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is one of the tallest statues of Jesus Christ in the world, at 40 m (130 ft). It stands on the top of Buntu Burake hill about 1.700 metres above sea level. Jesus Buntu Burake also has a glass bridge.

Toraja Airport, formerly Buntu Kunik Airport, is an airport at Mengkendek, Tana Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It was built to replace the Pongtiku Airport, which was closed due to lack of land for expansion to cope with increasing passenger demands. The airport started soft operations on 4 September 2020, and was officially inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on 18 March 2021.
