Scott William Weltz (born March 19, 1987) is an American competition swimmer who specializes in breaststroke events. Weltz was a member of the 2012 United States Olympic team, and placed fifth in the 200-meter breaststroke event at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Early years

Weltz was born in San Jose, California. He was a member of the San Jose Aquatics Club from the age of 7. He swam while attending Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose. [1] [2] He attended the University of California, Davis. Weltz was coached by Peter Motekaitis before the men's swim program was terminated at UC Davis.

2012 Summer Olympics

At the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska, the U.S. qualifying meet for the Olympics, Weltz made the U.S. Olympic team for the first time by finishing first in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:09.01. [3] Weltz also finished fourth in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:00.68. [4] At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Weltz placed fifth in the finals of the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:09.02. [5] His semifinal time the day before (2:08.99) and Olympic Trial time (2:09.01) showed remarkable consistency.

The men's 200 metre breaststroke at the 2007 World Aquatics Championships took place on 29 March and on the evening of 30 March (final) at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia. 85 swimmers were entered in the event, of which 79 swam.

At the 2020 Summer Olympics, King won a silver medal in the 4x100 meter medley relay for her efforts in the prelims, the silver medal in the 200-meter breaststroke, and the bronze medal in the 100-meter breaststroke. Andrew Wilson is a retired American swimmer. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, he placed 6th in the 100 meter breaststroke, 17th in the 200 meter breaststroke, and won a gold medal in the 4x100 meter medley relay, for his efforts in the prelims of the relay.

Katherine Cadwallader Douglass is an American swimmer who is currently on the USA National Team. In 2021 she placed second in the 200m meter individual medley at the 2020 Olympic Swimming Trials, qualifying for the US Olympic Team. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, she won a bronze medal in the same event. She swam for the University of Virginia where she competed at the collegiate level, and is a fifteen-time NCAA champion. In addition, she also holds the American record in the women's 100 yard butterfly, 200 yard breaststroke, 200 yard individual medley and 200 metre individual medley. At the 2022 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, Douglass became the first swimmer to win three individual titles in three different strokes.
