Seaford is a station on the Babylon Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. It is officially located at New York State Route 27 and Jackson Avenue in Seaford, New York, however parking areas stretch as beyond Washington Avenue east of this corner, and west towards the interchange with New York State Route 135. Westbound trains typically terminate at Penn Station or Grand Central, and eastbound trains terminate at Babylon.

History

Seaford station is typical of the elevated Babylon Branch stations that were rebuilt during the mid-to-late 20th century. What makes it atypical, however, is its close proximity to the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway interchange. The station was opened as a ground-level station on May 26, 1899. It was raised on April 15, 1966 as part of the grade elimination project, which was constructed and completed in 1966–67.

Beginning in 2008 the station underwent another renovation, with complete rebuilding of the station's platforms and shelters, plus the installation of an elevator.^[3] Though the reconstruction was scheduled to be completed on January 1, 2010, it was finished by July 31, 2009, several months ahead of schedule.

The Babylon Branch is a rail service operated by the Long Island Rail Road in the U.S. state of New York. The term refers to the trains serving Montauk Branch stations from Valley Stream east to Babylon; in other words, the Babylon Branch is a rail service rather than an actual track. The electrification of the Montauk Branch ends east of the Babylon station, so the Babylon Branch is mostly served by electric trains.

The Montauk Branch is a rail line owned and operated by the Long Island Rail Road in the U.S. state of New York. The line runs the length of Long Island, 115 miles (185 km) from Long Island City to Montauk. The Hunterspoint Avenue station is a station on the Main Line of the Long Island Rail Road within the City Terminal Zone. It is located at 49th Avenue between 21st Street and Skillman Avenue in the Hunters Point and Long Island City neighborhoods of Queens, New York City. This ground-level station has an island platform between two tracks and is currently not wheelchair accessible from the entrance above the station.

The Babylon station is a station on the Long Island Rail Road in the village of Babylon, New York at Railroad Avenue west of Deer Park Avenue. It is on the Montauk Branch and is the eastern terminus of the Babylon Branch service. To the west is the junction with the Central Branch, which heads northwest to join the Main Line at Bethpage Interlocking southeast of the Bethpage station. Babylon station is elevated with two island platforms and is wheelchair accessible through elevator access. The electrified portion of the Montauk Branch ends east of the station.

Syosset station is a commuter rail station on the Long Island Rail Road's Port Jefferson Branch in Syosset, New York. It is located at Jackson Avenue and Underhill Boulevard, south of New York State Route 25A, but north of Jericho Turnpike and the Long Island Expressway. Syosset's downtown was built around the station. There are no public transportation connections at the station, but taxi service is available.

The Freeport station is a station on the Babylon Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. It is located in Freeport Plaza between Henry Street and Benson Place, just north of NY 27 in Freeport, New York.

Wantagh is a station on the Babylon Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. It is located on Wantagh Avenue and Railroad Avenue near NY 27 in Wantagh, New York. It is commonly used as a terminal and origin for some Babylon branch trains during the rush hours.

Bethpage station is a commuter rail station along the Main Line of the Long Island Rail Road. It is located at Stewart Avenue and Jackson Avenue, in Bethpage, New York, and serves Ronkonkoma Branch trains. Trains that travel along the Central Branch also use these tracks, but do not stop here.

Bellmore is a station on the Babylon Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. It is located on the north side of Sunrise Highway between Bedford and Centre Avenues in Bellmore, New York, however the actual land area occupied by the station's several parking lots begins west of Centre Avenue and continues east of Bellmore Avenue.

The Rosa Parks Hempstead Transit Center is an intermodal center and transportation hub in Hempstead, New York. It contains the Nassau Inter-County Express bus system's indoor customer facility between Jackson and West Columbia Streets – as well as the terminus for the Hempstead Branch of the Long Island Rail Road, located right across West Columbia Street from the bus terminal.
