Trịnh Công Sơn was a Vietnamese musician, songwriter, painter and poet. He is widely considered to be Vietnam's best songwriter. His music explores themes of love, loss, and anti-war sentiments during the Vietnam War, for which he was censored by both the southern Republic of Vietnam and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Many performing artists, most notably Khánh Ly, Trinh Vinh Trinh, and some overseas singers such as Tuan Ngoc, Le Quyen, Le Thu, and Ngoc Lan, have gained popularity in their own right from covering Trịnh's songs.

It is credited with popularizing Vietnamese sandwiches and iced coffee among mainstream American consumers and inspiring several other Vietnamese-owned bakery chains.
Paris By Night 88: Lam Phương - Đường Về Quê Hương is a Paris By Night program produced by Thúy Nga that was filmed at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in Houston, Texas on Saturday, May 5, 2007. It is a direct continuation of Paris By Night 22: 40 Năm Âm Nhạc Lam Phương and Paris By Night 28: Lam Phương 2 - Dòng Nhạc Nối Tiếp, that was released several years earlier. This program was codenamed, In Houston 2. Before the main subject title was announced, the program was then codenamed to In Houston 2: Lam Phương 3. The three was scrapped off the title and the subject was simply, Lam Phương.

Railway crashes and derailments in Vietnam are common. In 2010, 451 railway incidents were reported across the country's railway network, having caused 211 deaths and 284 injuries. A joint Japanese-Vietnamese evaluation team reported in 2007 that the poor state of railway infrastructure was the fundamental cause for most railway incidents, of which the most common types were train crashes against vehicles and persons, especially at illegal level crossings; derailments caused by failure to decrease speed were also noted as a common cause of accidents. As of 2010, around 90% of all railway incidents occurred at level crossings without safety fences, and most were said to have been caused by motorists failing to follow traffic safety laws.
Tropical Depression 18W was a tropical depression that impacted Vietnam, Laos and Thailand during mid September 2013. The system was first noted as a tropical depression on September 16, 2013, while it was located within the South China Sea to the south east of Hanoi in Vietnam. Over the next two days the system gradually developed further, before it was reported by the Vietnamese National Centre for Hydro Meteorological Forecasting that the system had developed into their eighth tropical storm of 2013. However, other meteorological agencies did not report that the system had developed into a tropical storm.
Ngo Minh Hieu is a Vietnamese cyber security specialist and a former hacker and identity thief. He was convicted in the United States of stealing hundreds of thousands of people's personally identifiable information and in 2015 he was sentenced to 13 years in U.S. federal prison. After his early release from prison in 2020, Hieu returned to Vietnam and was recruited by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) under the Ministry of Information and Communications as a technical expert. Currently, he holds the positions of director of the limited liability ChongLuaDao Social Enterprise Limited Liability Company and manager of the non-profit project ChongLuaDao, which he co-founded with his partners at the end of 2020.
Typhoon Doksuri, known in the Philippines as Tropical Storm Maring, was a strong Category 2 typhoon that mostly impacted the Philippines and Vietnam during mid-September 2017. Forming as the nineteenth named storm of the season, Doksuri developed as a weak tropical depression over to the east of Visayas on September 10.
The October 2017 Vietnam tropical depression, also known officially by its designation as Tropical Depression 23W, was a weak but deadly system that brought torrential rainfall and extreme flooding over northern and central Vietnam in October 2017. The depression formed on October 7, located to the northwest of Luzon, Philippines. The system moved in a general westward direction as it steadily intensified. Despite being forecast to strengthen into a tropical storm, 23W failed to reach this intensity, due to lack of organization as it made landfall in Hà Tĩnh Province on October 10.
The 2020 Central Vietnam floods were a series of floods in Central Vietnam, which also affected some areas in Cambodia and Laos in October and early November 2020. The floods focused heavily in several provinces including Thừa Thiên Huế, Hà Tĩnh, Quảng Bình, Quảng Trị, and Quảng Ngãi. The floods were mainly caused by the seasonal monsoon, though enhanced by numerous tropical cyclones.
ChongLuaDao is a Vietnamese non-profit cybersecurity organization that helps clients verify the legitimacy of websites and block access to dangerous ones to keep them safe while using the internet. This non-profit project was started by a group of Vietnamese computer security specialist, including Hieu Minh Ngo, a former hacker who is now a technical expert for the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), Le Phuoc Hoa, Nguyen Hoang Thang, and Nguyen Hung.
