Sinar Mas Land is an Indonesian real estate development company, which is a subsidiary of Sinar Mas Group. It combines two big developers, Bumi Serpong Damai and Duta Pertiwi. It formed in 1988 under the flag of Duta Pertiwi. It now holds substantial interests in a businesses including residential housing, apartments, shopping centers, hotels, office buildings, industrial estates, townships and cities. Its head office building, designed by Aedas, is located in the BSD Green Office Park in Jakarta and received a high commendation under Indonesia’s office architecture at Asia Pacific Property Awards 2014. Balikpapan is a seaport city in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Located on the east coast of the island of Borneo, the city is the financial center of Kalimantan. Eka Tjipta Widjaja (Indonesian pronunciation: [ˈeka ˈtʃipta wiˈdʒaja]; ca. 1921–2019, born in Quanzhou, China as Oei Ėk-Tjhong, was a Chinese-Indonesian business magnate who founded the Sinar Mas Group, one of the largest conglomerates in Indonesia. Immigrated to Indonesia with his family when he was a child, he was a former member of the PCC, traded copra in the mid 1950s, moved into palm oil industry soon after, started a paper factory in the 1970s, and then entered financial services in the 1980s. At the time of his death, Sinar Mas has interests in paper, real estate, financial services, agribusiness, and telecom with holdings primarily in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and China, while Widjaja was listed by Forbes as the third richest person in Indonesia with a net worth of approximately US$8.6 Billion.

2019 Indonesian protests and riots Series of mass protest

A series of mass protests led by students took place at major cities in Indonesia from 23 September 2019, to rally against new legislation that reduces the authority of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), as well as several bills including a new criminal code that penalises extramarital sex and defamation against the president. The protesters consisted of mostly students from over 300 universities, with no association with any particular political parties or groups. The protests were the most prominent student movement in Indonesia since the 1998 riots that brought down the Suharto regime.

Michael Widjaja, is an Indonesian businessman of Chinese descent, serving as the CEO of Sinar Mas Land Group as well as Vice President Director of PT Bumi Serpong Damai Tbk (BSDE). Michael was born in Surabaya, 9 July 1984. Michael Jackson Purwanto Widjaja is the thirdborn of Muktar Widjaja, thereby a grandson of tycoon Eka Tjipta Widjaja founder of Sinar Mas Group. Michael married Feiny Sabur at the age of 28 on 1 October 2012. He marks the third generation successor of the Sinar Mas.

Dhony Rahajoe Deputy Head of Nusantara Capital City Authority

Dhony Rahajoe is an Indonesian architect and a former real estate developer executive who is the Deputy Head of Nusantara Capital City Authority since 10 March 2022. He previously served as managing director, President Office of Sinar Mas Land, a pillar of Sinar Mas Group. He is a mastermind behind projects of Sinar Mas Land, including elite housings in Indonesia, and also smart cities, housings, industrial and commercial buildings, hotels, and resorts scattered from Asia to Europe. He also described as "a very low profile figure with extreme calm" and "had been not under spotlight of publicities".
