Steven Craig Bondy [1] is an American diplomat who has served as the United States Ambassador to Bahrain since February 2022.
Raised in Livingston,New Jersey,Bondy was a 1980 graduate of Livingston High School. [2] He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Delaware. [3]
Bondy is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service,class of Minister-Counselor. From 2017 to 2020 he was Chargéd'affaires and Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi,United Arab Emirates. He previously served as the Assistant Chief of Mission in Kabul,Afghanistan and as the foreign policy advisor to the commander of the Joint Special Operations Command. He is the recipient of numerous U.S. government awards,including a Presidential Rank Award. [3]
On April 15,2021,President Joe Biden nominated Bondy to be the next United States Ambassador to Bahrain. On October 5,2021,a hearing on his nomination was held before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. [4] On October 19,2021,his nomination was reported favorably out of committee. [5] The United States Senate confirmed him on December 18,2021 by voice vote,making him the second Jewish ambassador to Bahrain after J. Adam Ereli. [2] Bondy presented his credentials to King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on February 9,2022. [6]
Bondy is the recipient of numerous U.S. government awards,including a Presidential Rank Award. [3]
Bondy is Jewish and speaks Arabic,French,Persian,Turkish and Spanish.[ citation needed ]

Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa is a Bahraini diplomat who served as Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2005 until January 2020. Khalid became only the second foreign minister in Bahrain's history after replacing Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa who then became Bahrain's deputy prime minister.
Bahrain and the United States have been allies since Bahrain's independence in 1971 and have maintained close relations with shared mutual interests across economic and geopolitical lines.

Extremely strong and cordial relations exist between Bahrain and Pakistan. Bahrain maintains an embassy in Islamabad and a Consulate-General in Karachi,whilst Pakistan maintains an embassy in Manama. Both countries are members of the OIC and of the G 77.
Relations have existed between Bahrain and Israel since Bahrain achieved its independence in 1971. In recent years,relations between the two countries have been thawing,and the countries agreed to establish diplomatic relations in September 2020. The foreign minister of Bahrain Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa has been quoted saying "Israel is part of the heritage of this whole region,historically. So,the Jewish people have a place amongst us." The common threat of Iran has provided common ground for a thaw in what were once tense relations. Bahrain's foreign policy traditionally supports the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa is a member of the Bahraini royal family and since 2004 has been the minister of interior of Bahrain.
