Sydney Lynn Carlin (born November 20,1944) [1] is a Democratic member of the Kansas House of Representatives,representing the 66th district. She has served since 2003. Carlin was not challenged for her seat in 2020 or 2022. [2]
Carlin is a member of a number of community organizations,including the American Cancer Society,American Legion,Fraternal Order of Police,Habitat for Humanity,American Heart Association,and the Manhattan Arts Center. [3] Prior to serving in the Kansas House,Carlin served on the Manhattan City Commission from 1993 to 1997,and served as mayor of Manhattan from 1996 to 1997. [4]
In 1972,Carlin married John Edward Carlin. John died in 2015. Carlin has four children,Blaine,Becce,Ryan and Mike. Through her sister's marriage,Carlin is related to former Kansas State Senator Tom Hawk.
John William Carlin is an American educator and politician who served as the 40th governor of Kansas from 1979 to 1987,and the archivist of the United States from May 30,1995,to February 15,2005. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Carlin teaches at Kansas State University as a visiting professor and previously operated a website to advance civic engagement. Carlin is also a member of the ReFormers Caucus of Issue One.
