The Asia Group (TAG) is a strategic advisory firm based in Washington DC. [1] The firm was founded in 2013 by Kurt Campbell, the former Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs [2] and Nirav Patel, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Strategy and Multilateral Affairs. [3]
On June 21, 2017, TAG announced that former US Ambassador to India Richard Verma would be joining the firm as its Vice Chairman. [4] In 2019, the former U.S. consul general in Hong Kong, Kurt Tong joined the firm as partner. [5] [6]

He previously was Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Department of State's Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs and replaced Clifford Hart in Hong Kong in August 2016. He arrived in Hong Kong on August 27, 2016, to assume his position as the Consul General.
