Dimri made her acting debut with Shreyas Talpade's directorial debut, the 2017 comedy Poster Boys , starring Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Talpade in lead roles. [8] An official remake of the Marathi film Poshter Boyz , it featured her as Talpade's love interest. [9] [10] A critic for Bollywood Hungama noted that Dimri's performance was overshadowed by others in the ensemble cast, yet found her to be "decent". [11] She next appeared in a leading role in the 2018 romantic drama Laila Majnu , opposite Avinash Tiwary. In her review for Firstpost, Anna M. M. Vetticad noted that she "imbued her Laila with an edge that made the character's constant flirtations with danger believable". [12]

After a short hiatus, Dimri achieved her breakthrough as the protagonist in Anvita Dutt's 2020 supernatural drama Bulbbul , reuniting her with Tiwari for a second time. Produced by Anushka Sharma, the film opened to positive reviews. [13] Namrata Joshi of The Hindu wrote, "From the vulnerable and the innocent to the transformation into the mysterious tease, Dimri is a stunner who speaks volumes with her eyes. And the audience can do little but stay enraptured". [14] Her performance earned her a Filmfare OTT Awards for Best Actor, Web Original Film (Female). [15]

In 2022, Dimri reunited with Dutt and starred in the title role of the critically acclaimed Qala . [16] The film received positive reviews from critics with Dimri's performance as a young singer attempting to simultaneously navigate her personal relationships alongside her career receiving praise. [17] Sanatanu Das of the Hindustan Times found Dimri to be "in fine form" but added that "her character is frustratingly one-note and delivered mostly in the same anxious wavelength". [18] Dimri said she did Qala to attempt a different genre as she deemed it important to constantly better herself as an actor. [19]

She then appeared in a brief role in the top-grossing action drama Animal (2023), starring Ranbir Kapoor. [20] Monika Rawal Kukreja of Hindustan Times appreciated Dimri's appearance in the film, finding her "a treat to look out for". [21] The film proved to be a significant advancement in Dimri's career with her role gaining her wider recognition. [22] She received a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. [23]

Dimri will next star in Anand Tiwari's romantic comedy Bad Newz, alongside Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk. [24] She will also star with Rajkummar Rao in the 1990s-set masala film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, [25] with Vidya Balan and Kartik Aaryan in the comedy horror sequel Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, [26] and with Siddhant Chaturvedi in a remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal , titled Dhadak 2. [27]
