Union of OIC News Agencies (abbreviated as UNA and UNA-OIC [6] ), [4] [7] [lower-alpha 1] formerly known as the International Islamic News Agency (IINA), [5] is a specialized organ of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), is a news agency publishing in Arabic, English and French and focusing on news about the Islamic world and Islamic affairs. Its headquarters is in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Contents

The agency was established in 1972, [9] under a resolution of the Third Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers. It is financed by OIC member states. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi is chairman of the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA-OIC) Executive Council.

It has 150 members, all appointed by the king and chosen "from amongst scholars, those of knowledge, expertise and specialists". International Islamic Fiqh Academy is an international Islamic institution for the advanced study of Islamic jurisprudence and law based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It was founded following a resolution by the Third Islamic Summit Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held in Mecca, that called for the establishment of an Islamic Fiqh Academy. The International Islamic Fiqh Academy was established in June 1983 as a subsidiary organ of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. It consists of 57 member states and representatives.

Islamic Committee of the International Crescent, is an Islamic relief organization and one of the eight specialized institutions of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation designed to serve as the main component of humanitarian aid to the 57 member states in times of the state of emergency caused by the natural disaster or military conflicts. It mainly provides medical assistance to the affected sovereign states, including permanent and non permanent member states.

The charter was formally signed on 25 September 1969 by the 57 member states, including 5 observer states. However, it was revised by the 11th summit held in Dakar, Senegal on 14 March 2008.

General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, commonly known as General Secretariat, is an executive body and primary organ of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation consists secretary general and staff members of the OIC, the second-largest intergovernmental organization after the United Nations. General Secretariat is tasted with decision implementation, in addition to maintaining entire organisation, including its charter. It also maintains Standing Committees, Executive Committee and the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission across the 57 member states. It manages subsidiaries, specialized, and affiliated institutions of the OIC with prime focus on OIC Council of Foreign Ministers and Islamic summit conducted by the 57 member states.
