The World University Softball Championship is an under-28 softball tournament for women's national teams held by the International Softball Federation (ISF). [1]

Contents

Softball Championshipss were held in 2004 and 2006, in 2007 it was an optional sport at the Summer Universiade. 2012 was to be the third rendition of the World University Softball Championship in Colorado Springs, Colorado, but was canceled due to a lack of entries. [2] In 2020, the softball championship will be held together with men’s baseball championship. [3]

Universiade Recurring international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU)

The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a combination of the words "University" and "Olympiad". The Universiade is referred to in English as the World University Games or World Student Games; however, this latter term can also refer to competitions for sub-University grades students. The Universiade is the largest multi-sport event in the world apart from the Olympic Games. The most recent games were in 2019: the Winter Universiade was in Krasnoyarsk, Russia while the Summer Universiade was held in Naples, Italy. The 2021 Winter Universiade will take place in Lucerne, Switzerland between 11 and 21 December 2021, and the 2021 Summer Universiade is scheduled to be held in Chengdu, China,but due the COVID-19 pandemic has been postponed to 2022.

College softball is softball as played on the intercollegiate level at institutions of higher education, predominantly in the United States. College softball is normally played by women at the Intercollegiate level, whereas college baseball is normally played by men.

International University Sports Federation

The Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire is responsible for the organisation and governance of worldwide sports competitions for student-athletes between the ages of 17 and 28. It was founded in 1949 as the world governing body of national university sports organisations and currently has 174 member associations from five continents. Between 1949 and 2011, it was based in Brussels (Belgium); since 2011, it is based in Lausanne (Switzerland).

Good Hope Centre Exhibition hall and conference centre in Cape Town

The Good Hope Centre in Cape Town, South Africa (1976) by Pier Luigi Nervi, is an exhibition hall and conference centre, with the exhibition hall comprising an arch with tie-beam on each of the four vertical facades and two diagonal arches supporting two intersecting barrel-like roofs which in turn were constructed from pre-cast concrete triangular coffers with in-situ concrete beams on the edges.

The World University Baseball Championship is an under-23 international college baseball competition sponsored by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and was first held in 2002 in Italy. Until 2013, it was sanctioned by the then-International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and was one of several tournaments considered by the IBAF to be a minor world championship, and as such the results of the tournaments affected the IBAF World Rankings. For its men's world rankings, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) -- successor to the IBAF—now uses the results of WBSC's biennial 23U Baseball World Cup.

The 2010 World University Rugby Sevens Championship will be the fourth edition of the World University Championship (WUC) for rugby sevens national teams. Under the supervision of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), this championship will be co-organized by the Portuguese university sports federation (FADU) and the University of Porto, whose bid was chosen by the FISU Executive Committee on January 15, 2007, following a 15–6 ballot win against a French bid.

The World University Cross Country Championships is an international biennial cross country running competition for student athletes, organised by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The 2012 edition of the competition featured 76 male and 61 female athletes from 23 countries. Over the history of the event, 64 countries have competed but only three have been present at all editions of the championships.

2014 World University Cycling Championship

The 2014 World University Cycling Championship is the 6th World University Cycling Championship sponsored by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The championship will take place in Jelenia Góra, Poland from 9 to 13 July 2014.

The 2006 World University Championships are the World Championships organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) in 2006. 27 World University Championships were organized attracting 5,852 participants from a total of 209 countries.

2016 World University Cycling Championship

The 2016 World University Cycling Championship was the 7th edition of the World University Cycling Championship. The tournament was hosted by the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP), sponsored by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The championship proper took place in Tagaytay, Philippines from March 17–20, 2016 with the opening ceremonies held on March 16. It is the first FISU World University Cycling Championship to be held outside of Europe and the first in Asia.

The tournament was hosted by the Portuguese Academic University Sports Federation (FADU), sponsored by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).

The 2012 World University Netball Championship was hosted at the Good Hope Centre in Cape Town, South Africa between 2 July and 7 July 2012. The tournament was organised by the Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire and University Sport South Africa. It was the inaugural tournament of the World University Netball Championship. It was won by Great Britain who defeated the host nation, South Africa 53–49 in the final. Jamaica finished third after defeating Northern Ireland 41–30 in the bronze medal match.

The second World University Netball Championship was organised by the Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) and held in Miami, United States. It is a women's indoor tournament with a maximum of 12 teams competing. 12 competitors and 5 officials are allowed per team.

The 2018 Men's World University Handball Championship was the 24th edition of this Handball event organized by the FISU. It was held in Rijeka, Croatia at the Zamet Hall, from 30 July to 5 August.

The 11th edition of World University Karate Championships took place in Kobe, Japan between July 19 and July 22, 2018.

2018 World University Wrestling Championships

The 2018 World University Wrestling Championships were the 13th edition of World University Wrestling Championships of combined events and were held from 4 to 9 September in Goiânia, Brazil.
