The 2013 Africa Cup was the thirteenth edition of the Africa Cup, an annual international rugby union tournament for African nations organised by the Confederation of African Rugby (CAR). [1] [2] This tournament, as well as the 2012 and 2014 editions of it, served as the qualifiers for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Division 1A

Division 1A was held between 10 and 14 July 2013, at the Mahamasina Municipal Stadium in Antananarivo, Madagascar. The competing teams will be (pre-tournament IRB World Rankings in parentheses:

Due to losing the third place playoff, Uganda will be demoted to 2014 Africa Cup Division 1B, and was eliminated from 2015 Rugby World Cup qualifying.

The North Group tournament was held in Niamey, Niger between 3 and 10 June 2013. Due to winning, Niger qualified for the Division 1C tournament which took place three weeks following.

South

The South Group tournament was held in Rwanda on 22 June 2013. In addition to Rwanda and Burundi, it was supposed to also feature Swaziland and Tanzania, however they were unable to attend.

Rather than a full tournament, a single game was held at Stade Amahoro, with Rwanda defeating Burundi with a score of 22 - 0. [8]

Division 3

Starting in 2013, there is now at third division, split into North and Central groups.

Central

The Central Group tournament was to be held in Democratic Republic of the Congo between 26 and 31 August 2013. However, 26 August came and went with no information about fixtures, and none of the games were played.

The North Group tournament was to be held in Egypt between 10 and 13 October 2013. However, no games were scheduled by October 8, and no news about rescheduling was ever released.

Gabon national football team National association football team

The Gabon national football team represents Gabon in men's international football. The team's nickname is The Panthers and it is governed by the Gabonese Football Federation. They have never qualified for the FIFA World Cup, but have qualified eight times for the Africa Cup of Nations. The team represents both FIFA and Confederation of African Football (CAF).

India national rugby union team

The India national rugby union team was admitted to the IRB in 2001, but it took three years before India won a match, beating Pakistan 56–3 in the third tier competition of the Asian Biennial tournament.

Rugby Africa, is the administrative body for rugby union within the continent of Africa under the authority of World Rugby, which is the world governing body of rugby union.

Madagascar national rugby union team

The Madagascar national rugby union team represents Madagascar in the sport of rugby union. Although rugby is popular in Madagascar, the country has not yet qualified for a Rugby World Cup. It does compete annually in the Africa Cup, and was runner-up to Uganda in 2007. The national team's nickname is the Malagasy name for the ring-tailed lemur.

The Mauritius national rugby union team represents Mauritius in international rugby union. Mauritius is a member of the International Rugby Board (IRB), but the national team is ranked as third tier, and Mauritius have yet to compete in either the Africa Cup or Rugby World Cup.

Tanzania national rugby union team Rugby team

The Tanzania national rugby union team represents Tanzania in international rugby union. They are known as the Twigas. Tanzania is a member of the International Rugby Board.

The 2008 CAR Development Trophy, also known as the 2008 Africa Junior Trophy, was the fifth edition of second level rugby union tournament in Africa. The competition involved thirteen teams that are divided into three zones. In the north there were two pools of three teams. In the 2008 edition Botswana, Swaziland and Nigeria did not participate, due to involvement in the World Cup qualifiers.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo national rugby union team represents DR Congo in men's international competitions, it is a member of the International Rugby Board (IRB), and have yet to play in a Rugby World Cup tournament.

Africa Womens Sevens

The Africa Women's Sevens is the continental championship for women's international rugby sevens in Africa. The tournament sanctioned and sponsored by Rugby Africa which is the rugby union governing body for the continent.

The 2011 Africa Cup was the eleventh edition of this tournament. The competition has been restructured into several tiers, based on the IRB rankings.

The 2012 Africa Cup was the twelfth edition of the Africa Cup, an annual international rugby union tournament for African nations organised by the Confederation of African Rugby (CAR). The tournaments between 2012 and 2014 will also serve as qualifiers for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

The 2012–14 European Nations Cup Second Division is the third tier rugby union in Europe behind the Six Nations Championship and the 2012-2014 European Nations Cup First Division.

The 2001 CECAFA Cup was the 25th edition of the football tournament that involves teams from East and Central Africa. The matches were played in Rwanda, who had last hosted the competition two years before, in 1999. All the matches at the tournament were played from 8 December 2001, when Rwanda beat Somalia, until the 22 December 2001, when both the final and third place play-off were hosted. Prior to the tournament, Sudan withdrew their participation, and as such were suspended from all CECAFA tournaments in the future on an indefinite basis. However, the suspension was lifted in time for the 2002 CECAFA Cup.

Serendib International Cup

The Serendib International Cup was an international rugby union competition for emerging nations held in Sri Lanka in 2013. The Serendib Cup was contested by the hosts Sri Lanka and the Malagasy and Polish national rugby teams. The tournament was backed by the International Rugby Board and was played over three match days in Colombo between 26 October and 1 November, coinciding with the 2013 end-of-year rugby union tests.

The 2014 Africa Cup was the fourteenth edition of the Africa Cup, an annual international rugby union tournament for African nations organised by the Confederation of African Rugby (CAR). AfroBasket 2021 qualification International qualification tournament

The AfroBasket 2021 qualification was a basketball competition that was played from January 2020 to July 2021, to determine the fifteen FIBA Africa nations who would join the automatically qualified host Rwanda at the AfroBasket 2021 finals tournament.
