The Niger national rugby union team represents Niger in international rugby union. Niger are a member of the International Rugby Board (IRB), and have yet to play in a Rugby World Cup tournament. Niger were the runner up to Tanzania in the CAR Castel Beer Trophy in 2006, but won the northern section.

Uganda national rugby union team

The Uganda national rugby union team are a national sporting side of Uganda, representing them at rugby union. Rugby union was introduced by the British during colonial rule and Uganda played their first international game against Kenya in 1958. They have not yet qualified for the Rugby World Cup.

Since then there have been a number of youth teams in Ghana; the under-18 team won a junior rugby competition. The National Team itself has hosted a tournament and had some credible results on the field.

The Mali national rugby team played their first ever international against Benin in 2003, winning the match. They also defeated Senegal that season. In 2005, Mali made history, by winning their first ever northern section crown of the CAR Castel Beer Trophy. The popularity of the sport of rugby in Mali is on the rise.

The Mauritius national rugby union team represents Mauritius in international rugby union. Mauritius is a member of the International Rugby Board (IRB), but the national team is ranked as third tier, and Mauritius have yet to compete in either the Africa Cup or Rugby World Cup.

Tanzania national rugby union team

The Tanzania national rugby union team represents Tanzania in international rugby union. They are known as the Twigas. Tanzania are a member of the International Rugby Board (IRB), and have yet to play in a Rugby World Cup tournament. In the 1970s expatriates and Tanzanians regularly played in the national team in an annual competition against Kenya. Tanzania played their first officially recognised international in 2004, defeating Burundi. Tanzania won the CAR Castel Cup in 2006.

The African Development Trophy is a rugby union tournament consisting of 16 teams played in the continent of Africa, formerly named the CAR Castel Beer Trophy. It is organised by the Confederation of African Rugby and is also known as the CAR Super 16. The tournament contains the teams in the second level of African rugby, below those playing in the Africa Cup. The competition is divided into north and south sections with two pools of four in each section. The winners of these pools will go on to play each other in the final where the winner of both north and south will be found.

The 2013 Africa Cup will be the thirteenth edition of the Africa Cup, an annual international rugby union tournament for African nations organised by the Confederation of African Rugby (CAR). This tournament, as well as the 2012 and 2014 editions of it, will serve as the qualifiers for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
