Chief of National Intelligence

The Chief of National Intelligence (CNI) is the Sri Lankan government official in-charge of directing and overseeing the intelligence agencies in Sri Lanka. Created in 2006, reporting to the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, CNI is a member of the National Security Council of Sri Lanka, coordinating the work of intelligence agencies in the country.

Parami Kulatunga

Lieutenant General Parami Sugandika Bandara Kulatunga, RSP, VSV, USP was a senior Sri Lanka Army officer. He was serving as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and its third highest-ranking officer at the time of his assassination. On the morning of 26 June, he was killed by a Tamil Tiger suicide bomber who drove an explosives laden motorbike into his staff car as it was driving to a military base at Pannipitiya near Colombo.

The Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) is situated at Batalanda, Makola (South) 12 Kilometers away from Colombo and its aim to develop the professional knowledge and understanding of experienced officers of the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy & the Sri Lanka Air Force to prepare them for the ranks of junior field officers in the army and the respective ranks of the Navy and Air force. The DSCSC was formerly known as the Sri Lanka Army Command and Staff College (ACSC).

Sri Lanka Military Academy Military unit

The Sri Lanka Military Academy, commonly known simply as Diyatalawa, is one of several military academies in Sri Lanka and is the Sri Lanka Army's initial officer training centre. It is located in the garrison town of Diyatalawa in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. All Sri Lanka Army officers, including army cadets of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, are trained at SLMA. Although not a university, SLMA is affiliated to the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University to provide its cadets of regular long course a degree in military studies.

The State Intelligence Service (SIS) is an intelligence agency of the Sri Lankan government. It is the primary civilian intelligence agency of Sri Lanka and is responsible for both internal and external intelligence-gathering. It comes under the purview of the Ministry of Defence. The agency was originally named National Intelligence Bureau.

Jagath Jayasuriya Sri Lankan Army general

General Jagath Jayasuriya, VSV, USP is a retired senior Sri Lanka Army officer; he was the Chief of Defence Staff of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces and Commander of the Sri Lankan Army. During the closing stages of the Sri Lankan Civil War, he served as the Commander Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni with overall command of SLA offensives in the Wanni region during the 2008 - 2009 period. He was also the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Suriname from June 2014 to August 2017.

Ruwan Wijewardene Sri Lankan politician

Dinendra Ruwan Wijewardene is a Sri Lankan politician. He was the former State Minister of Defence and former Mass Media non-cabinet Minister. He was the former Member of Parliament for Gampaha District. Currently He is the Deputy Leader of the United National Party and chief organiser for Kelaniya Electorate.

Sisira Mendis was a Sri Lankan police officer. He was a former Deputy Inspector-General of Police and the Director of Criminal Investigation Department. Following his retirement from the Sri Lanka Police, he served as Chief of National Intelligence.

Major General Jagath Dias, WWV, RWP, RSP, USP is a Sri Lankan general, who served as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army. He was the General Officer Commanding, 57 Division and 56 Division. He was the Sri Lankan Deputy Ambassador to Germany, Switzerland and the Vatican.

Major General K. Jagath Alwis, RWP, RSP, USP is a Sri Lankan senior military officer. He is the current Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, former Chief of National Intelligence, Commander Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna and the Colonel Commandant of the Military Intelligence Corps. He had served as Sri Lankan Deputy Ambassador to Israel and Commander of the President's Guard. Currently he is the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security.

Major General Jeewaka Ruwan Kulatunga, RSP, ndc, psc, is a Sri Lankan general. He is the present Chief of National Intelligence having served as the Commandant of the Defence Services Command and Staff College and the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University.

Jagath Chamila Fernando is an actor in Sri Lankan cinema, theatre and television. He made his film debut in 1992 in the Sinhalese film Guru Gedara, portraying a child. In 2013, he won the award for the Best Actor at New York International Film festival for his portrayal of Sami in Samige Kathava, a film based on Elmo Jayawardena's novel Sam's Story (2001). He is considered one of five actors who have dominated the Sri Lankan stage by critics.

<i>Prathiroo</i> 2012 Sri Lankan film

Prathiroo is a 2012 Sri Lankan Sinhala drama film directed by Kapila Sooriyaarachchi and co-produced by Kapila Sooriyaarachchi and Harischandra Yakandawala for Sense Creations. It stars Malani Fonseka and Joe Abeywickrama in lead roles along with Jagath Benaragama and Jagath Chamila. Music composed by Darshana Ruwan Dissanayake. It is the 1170th Sri Lankan film in the Sinhala cinema.

Hathara Denama Soorayo is a 2008 Sri Lankan Sinhala action romantic film directed and produced by Neil Rupasinghe. The film is a remake of 1971 blockbuster of the same name directed and produced by the same person. With that, the film became the second in the history of film industry in the world that the same Producer and Director did a re-make of the same film after 37 years with the same theme creating a world record. The four protagonist roles are played by stars Buddhika Jayarathne, Roshan Pilapitiya, Jagath Chamila and Amila Abeysekara in lead roles along with Chathurika Peiris and Kanchana Mendis. Music composed by Jayantha Ratnayake. It is the 1101st Sri Lankan film in the Sinhala cinema.

2019 Sri Lanka Easter bombings Attacks on three churches, four hotels and a housing complex in Sri Lanka on 21 April 2019

On 21 April 2019, Easter Sunday, three churches in Sri Lanka and three luxury hotels in the commercial capital, Colombo, were targeted in a series of coordinated Islamist terrorist suicide bombings. Later that day, there were smaller explosions at a housing complex in Dematagoda and a guest house in Dehiwala. A total of 269 people were killed, including at least 45 foreign nationals, three police officers, and eight bombers, and at least 500 were injured. The church bombings were carried out during Easter services in Negombo, Batticaloa and Colombo; the hotels that were bombed were the Shangri-La, Cinnamon Grand, Kingsbury and Tropical Inn. According to the State Intelligence Service, a second wave of attacks was planned, but was stopped as a result of government raids.

Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army (Sri Lanka)

Deputy of Staff of the Army (DoSA) has been the title of the second in command of the Sri Lanka Army. The post is held by a regular officer of the rank of Major General and is the third senior position in the army. Deputy of Staff is charged with assisting the Chief of Staff of the Army in both operational and administrative aspects, functioning as the Acting Army Commander in his absences or incantation.

Bhavatharana is a 2015 Sri Lankan Sinhala historical drama film directed by Devinda Kongahage as his film directorial debut. The film is co-produced by Mawathagama S. Rajaputra Weerasinghe with Shirani Keppetipola for Castoria Films and Rajaputhra Productions. <i>Manikkawatha</i> 2021 Sri Lankan teledrama

Manikkawatha is a 2021 Sri Lankan drama serial broadcast on Independent Television Network. The series is directed by Sudath Rohana. It is the live action adaptation of critic's acclaimed novel by Mahinda Prasad Masimbula with the same name. It is produced by Fahim Maujud and music direction is by Navaratne Gamage. The serial stars Jagath Chamila in lead role along with Uma Aseni, Volga Kalpani, Sarath Kothalawala, W. Jayasiri and Priyankara Rathnayake make supportive roles.
