Imogen Allison (born 24 April 1998) [1] is an English netball player, who has represented the national side since 2020. At club level, she plays for Manchester Thunder and has previously played for Team Bath & Yorkshire Jets.

Club career

Allison plays as a wing defence or centre for Manchester Thunder. [1] She played for Yorkshire Jets in the 2016 Netball Superleague season. [2] She joined Team Bath ahead of the 2017 season. [3] She re-signed for Bath for the 2018 season. [4]

During the 2019 season, Allison was Bath's captain when regular captains Eboni Usoro-Brown and Serena Guthrie were away on international duty. [5] She was shortlisted for the 2019 Superleague Young Player of the Year Award, and later re-signed for Bath for the 2020 season. [6] She was named Bath's Player of the Year for the 2021 Netball Superleague season, [7] and later captained Bath in the 2021 British Fast5 Netball All-Stars Championship, [8] a tournament which they won. [9] In January 2022, she was named the team's captain for the 2022 Netball Superleague season. [7] [9] Bath coach Anna Stembridge told Allison that she would be captain on FaceTime, as Allison was at the 2022 Netball Quad Series at the time. [10] She missed a March 2022 match against Wasps after testing positive for COVID-19. [11] . On 28 August 2023, it was confirmed that she would be signing for Manchester Thunder [12]

International career

Allison competed for England-under 21s at the 2017 Netball World Youth Cup, where the team finished third overall. [1] She was a co-captain of the England A side for fixtures alongside the 2020 Netball Nations Cup. [13]

She was in the England senior squad for a 2019 tour of Oceania, [5] [13] and also for the 2020 Taini Jamison Trophy Series. [13] She made her debut for the senior team at the age of 22 in October 2020, [14] coming on as a replacement for Jade Clarke. [15] She played in the 2021 Vitality Roses Reunited Series [16] and the 2022 Netball Quad Series. [10] Allison was named as a reserve in the England squad for the netball event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. [17] On 17 July, she replaced the injured Beth Cobden in the England squad for the Games. [18]

Personal life

Allison attended The Brooksbank School [9] and started playing netball in Year Seven. [14] She later studied Sports & Exercise Science [6] at the University of Bath. [19]

Team Bath is an English netball team based at the University of Bath. Their senior team plays in the Netball Superleague. In 2005–06 they were both founder members and the inaugural champions of the league. They were Superleague champions again in 2006–07, 2008–09, 2009–10 and 2013, and British Fast5 All-Stars Champions in 2021. Manchester Thunder are an English netball team based in Manchester. Their senior team plays in the Netball Superleague. In 2005–06, Thunder were founding members of the league. They were Superleague champions in 2012, 2014, 2019 and 2022. Between 2001 and 2012 they played as Northern Thunder and were originally based in Bury, Greater Manchester.

Stacey Francis-Bayman is a former England netball international. She was a member of the England teams that won bronze medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and at the 2011 and 2015 Netball World Cups. At club level she has played for both Team Bath and Yorkshire Jets in the Netball Superleague, for Canterbury Tactix in the ANZ Championship and for West Coast Fever in Suncorp Super Netball. Between 2005–06 and 2013 she was a prominent member of the Team Bath squad as they won five Superleague titles. She played in the 2010 and 2013 grand finals and in both 2011 and 2013 she was named the Netball Superleague Player of the Season. Beth Cobden is an England netball international. She was a member of the England teams that won gold medals at the 2017 Fast5 Netball World Series and the 2018 Commonwealth Games. At club level, she was a member of the Northern Thunder/Manchester Thunder teams that won Netball Superleague titles in 2012 and 2014. She also played in two grand finals for Loughborough Lightning which won their first ever Superleague title in 2021. In 2019 she signed for Adelaide Thunderbirds of Suncorp Super Netball.

Natalie Metcalf is an English netball player. She was part of the England squad that won gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She was appointed captain of the England team in 2022 and led them to their first Netball World Cup final a year later, where they finished runner up to Australia.

Sara Francis-Bayman is a former netball player and coach from Billinge near Wigan, England. She represented England in the 2010 Commonwealth Games. At a club level, Bayman has represented Team Bath, Manchester Thunder and UWS Sirens in the Netball Superleague, and Central Pulse in the ANZ Premiership. Layla Guscoth is an England netball international. She was a member of the England squad that won a bronze medal at the 2019 Netball World Cup. At club level, Guscoth has played for Loughborough Lightning, Hertfordshire Mavericks and Team Bath in the Netball Superleague and for Adelaide Thunderbirds in Suncorp Super Netball. The 2021 Netball Superleague season was the sixteenth season of the Netball Superleague, the elite domestic netball competition in the United Kingdom. The season started on 12 February 2021. Manchester Thunder were the defending champions, as they won the 2019 season and the 2020 season was cancelled after three rounds due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the ongoing pandemic, the first nine weeks of matches were held at Studio 001 in Wakefield, and the remaining matches were held at the Copper Box Arena in London. All matches were originally scheduled to be held behind closed doors, though from week 17 onwards, limited numbers of fans were permitted into matches, due to a change in the UK Government guidelines.

Malysha Kelly is a Jamaican netball player, who has made over 50 appearances for the national side, and is a former captain. At club level, she most recently played for Severn Stars in the Netball Superleague.

Loreen Ngwira also spelt as Laureen Ngwira is a Malawian netball player who plays for Malawi in the positions of GD and GK.

Takondwa Lwazi also spelt as Takwonda Lwazi is a Malawian netball player who plays for Malawi internationally and for Malawian local club Blue Eagles in the positions of C and WA. She is known as one of the finest netball centre players to have played for Malawi despite being only 160cm tall in height. She also serves as a Police Sergeant in the Malawi Police Service.

Sophie Drakeford-Lewis is an English netball player who plays for Surrey Storm and has represented the national team. She has previously played for Saracens Mavericks and Team Bath, and was awarded the Young Player of the Season Award for the 2019 Netball Superleague season. As a youngster, Drakeford-Lewis played tennis, and she was at one time the highest ranked Briton at under-16 and under-18 level.

The 2022 Netball Superleague season was the seventeenth season of the Netball Superleague, the elite domestic netball competition in the United Kingdom. Loughborough Lightning were the defending champions, as they won the 2021 season. The season began on 5 February, and ended with the grand final on 5 June.

Laura Malcolm is an English netball player who has been a co-captain of the national team. At club level, she plays for Mainland Tactix in the ANZ Premiership, and has previously played for Netball Superleague teams Manchester Thunder and Severn Stars.
