PJSC Lysychansk Oil Investment Company [3] is the second largest oil refinery in Ukraine, capable of refining 16 million tons of oil per year. [1] It is located at Verkhnokamyanka, Luhansk Oblast, about 10 km from the outskirts of Lysychansk city. Russian forces attacked the refinery in April 2022 [4] [5] and captured it in June, during the Battle of Lysychansk of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.

After intense Russian shelling and ground clashes on the outskirts, the pro-Russian separatist Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) announced their forces had seized Lysychansk on 2 July, although Ukraine initially denied the city's capture. Zolotarivka is a village in eastern Ukraine, located in Sievierodonetsk Raion of Luhansk Oblast. It is close to Verkhnokamyanka and the Lysychansk Oil Refinery.
