The Russia national baseball team is the national baseball team of Russia. The team competed in the bi-annual European Baseball Championship.

After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the World Baseball Softball Confederation banned Russian athletes and officials. [2] In addition, WBSC Europe relocated competitions that had been scheduled to be held in Russia during 2022, and excluded Russian teams from all its competitions for both national and club teams to be held in Europe in 2022. [3]

History

The Russian national baseball team has never won a championship. Their head coach is Vladimir Timakov. The team was formed in 1987.[ citation needed ]

As of September 2022, WBSC Europe counts 40 members for baseball and 39 for softball.

World Baseball Softball Confederation is the world governing body for the sports of baseball, softball, and Baseball5. It was established in 2013 by the merger of the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and International Softball Federation (ISF), the former world governing bodies for baseball and softball, respectively. Under WBSC's organizational structure, IBAF and ISF now serve as the Baseball Division and Softball Division of WBSC. Each division is governed by an executive committee, while the WBSC is governed by an executive board.

The 2021 Women's Baseball World Cup would have been the ninth edition of the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup, the biennial international women's baseball world championship tournament. The competition was planned to be held in Tijuana, Mexico in late 2021, with dates to be announced. The competition was originally to be held in Monterrey, Mexico from 11 to 20 September 2020, and was initially rescheduled to be held in Tijuana from 1 to 9 March 2021, but was postponed both times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament was cancelled altogether in October 2021.

The organization is currently ranked 28th in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation. They compete in the bi-annual U-18 Baseball World Cup.
