Paraguay's bicameral Congress (Congreso) consists of a 45-member Senate and an 80-member Chamber of Deputies. It serves as the legislative branch of the Paraguayan state.

Contents

Both chambers of Congress are elected concurrently with the president by means of a proportional representation system. Deputies are elected by department and senators on a nationwide basis.

The following table shows the distribution of seats in the Senate. [1] The status of at least one seat remains in doubt, however, as Rafael "Mbururú" Esquivel, elected for the National Crusade Party, was arrested and charged with child sexual abuse just before the elections. [2] [3]

The National Republican Association – Colorado Party is a conservative political party in Paraguay, founded on 11 September 1887 by Bernardino Caballero. Elections to the Chamber are held every two years, so that half of its members are up in each election, making it a rare example of staggered elections used in a lower house.

Daniel Ricardo Kroneberger is an Argentine politician, currently serving as a National Senator for La Pampa since 2021. He belongs to the Radical Civic Union (UCR). Kroneberger previously served two non-consecutive terms as a National Deputy elected in La Pampa, from 2005 to 2009 and from 2011 to 2019. Prior to that, he served as intendente of Colonia Barón, a rural community in La Pampa, for ten years from 1995 to 2005.
