Meghna state guest house is an official guest house of the government of Bangladesh for visiting dignitaries and holding official meetings and is located in Ramna Thana, Dhaka. [1] [2]

Ramna is a historic colonial neighborhood in central Dhaka. Once the site of Mughal gardens, it developed into an institutional area during British rule in the late 19th century. It became a focal point for Dhaka's modernization in the 1960s. It was the scene of many tumultuous events that ushered the independence of Bangladesh in 1971.

In 2016 the EU Parliament International Trade Committee Chairman Bernd Lange, led a delegation of the EU parliament and met with the commerce minister of Bangladesh, Tofail Ahmed, in the guest house. [3] [4]

Tofail Ahmed Bangladeshi researcher of Folk Art

Tofail Ahmed was a well-known Bangladeshi researcher of Folk Art. He was also a collector of Folk artifacts and has authored several books on Bangladeshi Folk arts and Crafts. He was awarded the Shilu Abed Karushilpa Prize for his contribution to Folk Arts and Craft in 1998. He was also elected as an Honorary Fellow of the Bangla Academy in 2001.

Suhrawardy Udyan formerly known as Ramna Race Course ground is a national memorial located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is named after Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy. Originally it served as the military club of the British soldiers stationed in Dhaka. It was then called the Ramna Race Course and later Ramna Gymkhana. Dhaka Cantonment is a cantonment located in the northern part of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The headquarters of the Bangladesh Army Navy and Air Force are situated within this cantonment. The Cantonment is located on the north-east end of the Dhaka metropolis. The train station is also one of the termini of the Bangladesh-India Maitree Express train service.

Shahbag or Shahbagh is a major neighbourhood and a police precinct or thana in Dhaka, the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. It is also a major public transport hub. It is a junction between two contrasting sections of the city—Old Dhaka and New Dhaka—which lie, respectively, to its south and north. Developed in the 17th century during Mughal rule in Bengal, when Old Dhaka was the provincial capital and a centre of the flourishing muslin industry, it came to neglect and decay in early 19th century. Bashundhara Residential Area is a private residential area of Vatara Thana in Dhaka District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is owned and operated by Bashundhara Group. The Project was started in the 1980s. In 2011 portions of the housing project was declared illegal as they were considerable flood flow zones of Dhaka. In 2014 a cabinet committee changed the Dhaka detailed plan to make the project legal. The project was built on area made by filling low-lying marshland and flood flow zones.
