Verdon bin Bahanda is a Malaysian politician, businessman and indigenous activist who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kudat since November 2022. He served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Director of Sabah Football Club Sdn Bhd from November 2020 to his resignation in December 2020. [1] [2] He was also the owner of the Sabah Football Club Sdn Bhd after its privatisation in November 2020 (Officially in 2021). He is presently the only independent MP, one of the two independent candidates who was elected in the 2022 general election along with Tenom MP Riduan Rubin who is a former member of the Social Democratic Harmony Party (KDM) and Verdon is the first independent Kudat MP in the Malaysian history. He is also the younger brother of Wetrom Bahanda, the Kota Marudu MP and Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bandau. [3]

2022 general election

In the 2022 general election, Verdon made his electoral debut after nominating himself to contest for the Kudat federal seat as an independent candidate. [4] He won the seat and was elected into Parliament as the Kudat MP after defeating Ruddy Awah of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), Rashid Abdul Harun of the Heritage Party (WARISAN), Thonny Chee of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Nur Alya Humaira Usun of Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) by a majority of 1,967 votes. A sub-group of the Kadazan-Dusun, they have a distinct language, dress, architecture, customs, and oral literature from other Dusunic sub-groups. There are around 74,000 Rungus people in the state.

Pan Borneo Highway, also known as Trans-Borneo Highway or Trans-Kalimantan Highway, is a road network on Borneo Island connecting two Malaysian states, Sabah and Sarawak, with Brunei and Kalimantan region in Indonesia. The highway is numbered AH150 in the Asian Highway Network and as Federal Route 1 in Sarawak. In Sabah, the route numbers given are 1, 13 and 22. The highway is a joint project between both governments which started as soon as the formation of Malaysia in 1963 which comprised Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore. The lack of a road network system in Sarawak was the main factor of the construction.

Wetrom bin Bahanda is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kota Marudu since November 2022 and Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bandau since September 2020. He served as the State Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister of Sabah in the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) state administration under Chief Minister Hajiji Noor from October 2020 to his resignation in October 2022. He is a member of the Social Democratic Harmony Party (KDM) and was a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU), a component party of the ruling Perikatan Nasional (PN) and GRS as well as formerly the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalitions and was a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. He is formerly one of the two KDM MPs along with Wetrom Bahanda and one of the two independent candidates who was elected in the 2022 general election along with Kudat MP Verdon Bahanda. He is also the son of Rubin Balang, the Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Kemabong and the Vice President II of Sabah People's Ideas Party.

Sabah Football Club Sdn Bhd. is a Sabahan limited liability sports and club holding company based in Sabah, Malaysia with a Company Registration Number 1383683U. Formerly known as the North Borneo Football Association and then the Sabah Football Association (SAFA) by the Sabah government, it became a private independent company in 2021 by the Sabah sports organization holder to become an individual company that holds Sabah youth and sports clubs. Today, the company has control over a football club that has two teams namely Sabah FC and Sabah Youth FC (U18/U23), a stadium and also websites.
