Alfonso Cuarón Mexican film director, film producer, screenwriter, cinematographer and film editor

Alfonso Cuarón Orozco is a Mexican film director, film producer, screenwriter, cinematographer and film editor. Cuarón is the first Mexico-born filmmaker to win the Academy Award for Best Director. He has been nominated for Academy Awards in six different categories, a record he shares with Walt Disney and George Clooney.

The New York Film Critics Online (NYFCO) is an organization founded by Harvey Karten in 2000 composed of Internet film critics based in New York City. The group meets once a year, in December, for voting on its annual NYFCO Awards.

Hannah Beachler is an American production designer. She worked on the 2015 Rocky film Creed, the Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead, and most recently has become known for the film Moonlight, Beyoncé's 2016 TV special and visual album Lemonade, and for her Afrofuturist design direction on the film Black Panther, for which she won an Academy Award for Best Production Design. She was the first African-American to be nominated in the same category, as well as the first to win.

Roma is a 2018 black-and-white drama film written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón, who also produced, shot, and co-edited it. Set in 1970 and 1971, Roma follows the life of a live-in housekeeper of a middle-class family, as a semi-autobiographical take on Cuarón's upbringing in the Colonia Roma neighborhood of Mexico City. The film stars Yalitza Aparicio and Marina de Tavira.

Brian Tyree Henry is an American actor. He is best known for his role as Alfred "Paper Boi" Miles in the FX comedy-drama series Atlanta (2016–present), for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. He is also known for his performances in Boardwalk Empire, How to Get Away with Murder, and This is Us.

75th Venice International Film Festival Film festival

The 75th Venice International Film Festival was held from 29 August to 8 September 2018. Mexican film director Guillermo del Toro was named as the President of the Jury. First Man, directed by Damien Chazelle, was selected to open the festival. Guillermo del Toro was named as the Jury President for the main competition section, with Michele Riondino hosting the festival.

91st Academy Awards Award ceremony for films of 2018

The 91st Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), honored the best films of 2018 and took place on February 24, 2019, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. During the ceremony, AMPAS presented Academy Awards in 24 categories. The ceremony was televised in the United States by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) and was produced by Donna Gigliotti and Glenn Weiss, with Weiss also serving as director. This was the first telecast to have no host since the 61st ceremony held in 1989.

The 90th National Board of Review Awards, honoring the best in film for 2018, were announced on November 27, 2018.

The 84th New York Film Critics Circle Awards, honoring the best in film for 2018, were announced on November 29, 2018.

The 23rd San Diego Film Critics Society Awards were announced on December 10, 2018.

The 44th Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards, given by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA), honored the best in film for 2018.

The 39th Boston Society of Film Critics Awards, honoring the best in filmmaking in 2018, were given on December 16, 2018.

The nominations for the 19th Vancouver Film Critics Circle Awards, honoring the best in filmmaking in 2018, were announced on December 14, 2018. The Favourite led with six nominations, followed by First Reformed with four.

The 53rd National Society of Film Critics Awards, given on 5 January 2019, honored the best in film for 2018.

The 69th American Cinema Editors Eddie Awards were presented on February 1, 2019 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, honoring the best editors in films and television.

Gabriela Rodríguez is a Venezuelan film producer based in London. She received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture for her work on Roma, and was the first Latin American woman to earn a nomination in that category. She also won two BAFTAs and a British Independent Film Award, as well as other nominations for her production work on the film.
