K. Asungba Sangtam is an Indian politician, social worker and a former member of Lok Sabha from Nagaland. [1] He was a member of the 12th and 13th Lok Sabha representing Nagaland Lok Sabha constituency. [2] [3]
Born on 27 July 1945 at Tsarü, a village in Tuensang district in the Northeast Indian state of Nagaland. He did his school education from St. Edmund's School, Shillong (1962) and further completed his pre-university from St. Edmund's College, Shillong in 1964. He started his graduate degree from St. Stephen's College, Delhi and completed it in 1970 from the Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung in Nagaland. [4] He was aligned with the Indian National Congress and was a member of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee, served as a joint secretary in 1987 and as a secretary in 1989 but resigned in 2014. During his tenure as a Parliamentarian in the Lok Sabha, he served as a member of the Committee on Communications and as a member of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture. [1] He also contested in the general elections of 2004 and 2009, though unsuccessful. [5] In 2009, the Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri for his contributions in public affairs. [6]
He has been the president of the Baptist Church Trust Association (BCTA), Delhi since 2005, a partner organisation of the BMS World Mission, [7] He is married to Yashila Asung and has two sons and two daughters.
Murli Manohar Joshi is an Indian politician. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of which he was the President between 1991 and 1993, and the former Member of Parliament for Kanpur parliamentary constituency. He was formerly a professor of physics in University of Allahabad. He was one of the key leaders of the BJP. Joshi later became the Union Human Resources Development minister in the National Democratic Alliance government. Joshi was awarded Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award, in 2017 by the Government of India.
Purno Agitok Sangma was an Indian politician who has served as the 4th Chief Minister of Meghalaya from 1988 to 1990 and the 11th Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 1996 to 1998. He also served as a member of the Lok Sabha from Tura from 2014 to 2016, 1991 to 2008 and from 1977 to 1989 and the minister of 21st Information and Broadcasting in the Rao ministry from 1995 to 1996, founder of NPP and Co- founder of NCP. He was the candidate for the 2012 Indian presidential election, supported by BJP and AIADMK, however he lost to Congress politician Shri Pranab Mukherjee. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian award, posthumously in 2017 in the field of Public Affairs and was the first recipient of Padma Vibhushan from Meghalaya.
Ram Vilas Paswan was an Indian politician from Bihar and the Cabinet Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in the first and second Modi ministries. Paswan was also the president of the Lok Janshakti Party, nine-times Lok Sabha member and two-time Rajya Sabha MP. He started his political career as member of Samyukta Socialist Party and was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1969. Later, Paswan joined Lok Dal upon its formation in 1974, and became its general secretary. He opposed the emergency, and was arrested during this period. He first entered the Lok Sabha in 1977, as a Janata Party member from Hajipur constituency, and was elected again in 1980, 1989, 1991, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2014.
Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna is an Indian politician who served as Minister of External Affairs of India from 2009 to October 2012. He was the 10th Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1999 to 2004 and the 19th Governor of Maharashtra from 2004 to 2008. SM Krishna had served as the Speaker of the Karnataka Vidhan Sabha from December 1989 to January 1993. He was also a member of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha at various times from 1971 to 2014. In 2023, Krishna was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award of India.
Thalikkottai Rajuthevar Baalu, better known as T. R. Baalu, is an Indian politician. Baalu did his B.Sc. from New College, Chennai in Madras University and diploma in drafting engineering drawings from Central polytechnic Chennai. He is currently the MP of Lok Sabha of the Sriperumbudur constituency, elected five times since 1996 from Chennai South and Sriperumbudur. He is a leader of the DMK party and is known for political loyalty having been in the party since 1957. He is now the Treasurer of DMK, elected unopposed on 3 September 2020. He earlier served as the Principal Secretary of the DMK Party from August 2018 to January 2020.

He also served as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Information Technology.

C. L. Ruala is an Indian politician from Mizoram and member of the Indian National Congress. He was a Member of Parliament of the 16th Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament. He was elected from the only one-seat Mizoram constituency. He won over Robert Romawia, IND candidate, and M. Lalmanzuala, Aam Aadmi Party candidate, by getting a total vote 210,485 (48.7%). He was also elected member in the previous term during 2009-2014.

Narayan Sadoba Kajrolkar was an Indian independence activist, Gandhian and social worker, best known as the man who defeated B. R. Ambedkar in a general election. A Marathi by birth, he served as a personal assistant to Ambedkar, before contesting against him in the first Lok Sabha elections from the Mumbai North Central constituency in 1952 and defeated the latter by over 15000 votes. He was also elected from the same constituency for a second time in the 1962 elections.
Vizol Vitso-n Koso was an Indian politician from Nagaland who served as the 4th Chief Minister of Nagaland twice from February 1974 until March 1975 and November 1977 until April 1980. He became the Chief Minister of Nagaland as part of the United Democratic Front (Nagaland).
Shashi Bhushan (1924–2011) was an Indian independence activist, social worker, politician, writer and an institution builder. He was the founder of several organisations such as Rashtriya Ekta Samiti, All India Freedom Fighters' Organisation, Punjab Ekta Samiti and the Institute for Socialist Education, and represented Khargone and South Delhi constituency in the 5th Lok Sabha (1971–1977).
