Castro Point is a cape in western Richmond, California, United States. [1]
Castro Point was once the east shore landing for the Richmond-San Rafael Car and Passenger Ferry that crossed the San Pablo Bay. [1] It was also the western terminal for the East Shore and Suburban Railway connecting trains from Downtown Richmond and Oakland. [1] [2] The cape is the best launching spot for viewing the seals on the Castro Rocks underneath the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and the cape is largely located in Point Molate Beach Park in addition to a Caltrans maintenance facility owned by the state of California. Part of the movie Magnum Force was filmed here. Scenes 31-36 were mostly filmed at and around Pier 54 in San Francisco, and scene 34 ("Not enough experience", where Dirty Harry and the rookie cop were on motorcycles jumping aircraft carriers) was filmed at Castro Point with the San Rafael Bridge in the background. Only remnants of the piers that the old aircraft carriers were docked to still remain.

Richmond is a city in western Contra Costa County, California, United States. The city was incorporated on August 7, 1905 and has a city council. Located in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, Richmond borders the cities of San Pablo, Albany, El Cerrito and Pinole in addition to the unincorporated communities of North Richmond, Hasford Heights, Kensington, El Sobrante, Bayview-Montalvin Manor, Tara Hills, and East Richmond Heights, and for a short distance San Francisco on Red Rock Island in the San Francisco Bay. Richmond is one of two cities, the other being San Rafael, California, that sits on the shores of San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay simultaneously.
Interstate 580 (I-580) is an approximately 82-mile-long (132 km) east–west auxiliary Interstate Highway in Northern California. The heavily traveled spur route of I-80 runs from US 101 in San Rafael in the San Francisco Bay Area to I-5 near Tracy in the Central Valley. I-580 forms a concurrency with I-80 between Albany and Oakland, the latter of which is the location of the MacArthur Maze interchange immediately east of the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge. I-580 provides a connection from the Bay Area to the southern San Joaquin Valley and Southern California via I-5, as I-5 bypasses the Bay Area to the east.

The Richmond City Council is the governing body for the city of Richmond, California. The council consists of the Mayor of Richmond and six other city council members, one designated Vice Mayor. They are not all elected at once. The council members meet every first and third Tuesday of the month and, if necessary, hold special meetings on the remaining Tuesdays. Point Molate Marsh is a salt marsh on the western shoreline of the San Pablo Peninsula in Richmond, California. The area is environmentally valuable land as it is largely untouched and isolated from nearby urban development. The marsh was once used as a Chinese shrimp camp. It is habitat to important endangered species, especially the Ridgway's rail and salt marsh harvest mouse. Harbor seals also make use of the marsh which is on San Francisco Bay. It is located between Point San Pablo and Point Molate.

Point Molate Beach Park is a city-owned park in Richmond, California, accessible only via a narrow road from the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge toll plaza exit "Western Drive", and separate from the rest of the city. The park is adjacent to the present day ghost town of Winehaven.
