Transjakarta Corridor 12 is a bus rapid transit corridor in Jakarta, Indonesia, operated by Transjakarta. It connects the Pluit BRT station to the Tanjung Priok bus terminal. The streets that passed by Corridor 12 are along Pluit Putri/Putra, Pluit Timur, Pluit Selatan, Jembatan Tiga, Bandengan Selatan, Gedong Panjang, Kopi, Tiang Bendera 5, Roa Malaka Utara, Tiang Bendera, Kunir, Lada Dalam, Bank, Kali Besar Barat, Jembatan Batu, Mangga Dua, Gunung Sahari, Angkasa, HBR Motik, Danau Sunter Barat, Danau Sunter Utara, Mitra Sunter Boulevard, Danau Sunter Selatan Dalam, Yos Sudarso, and Enggano streets. This corridor is integrated with Jakarta Kota Station at the Kota BRT station, Kampung Bandan Station at Mangga Dua BRT station, and also the Tanjung Priuk railway station at the Tanjung Priok terminal.

At one time, this corridor used articulated buses, but because the route was very winding, especially in the old city area where the streets were narrow, it was quite difficult to navigate there, so the buses were changed to non-articulated buses.

Transjakarta launched a 35-minute express service between Pluit and Kota which is only available from 06:00 to 09:00 and was launched on May 8, 2023. [1]

History

Corridor 12 was inaugurated on February 14, 2013, by the Governor of Jakarta at the time, Joko Widodo [2] [3] with 36 new buses at the first day of the operational. [4]

In July 2015, this corridor was shortened, only limited from Penjaringan to Tanjung Priok, at that time the Pluit BRT station had not served Corridor 12.[ citation needed ] Then in August 2019, this corridor route was shortened again, so it only serves the Penjaringan - Sunter Kelapa Gading route. [5] [6] As of December 18, 2021, Corridor 12 has returned to its original route, Pluit - Tanjung Priok. For now, the Penjaringan - Sunter Kelapa Gading route is only used as the axis route. [7]

On May 8, 2023, the Pluit–Kota express service on Corridor 12 was launched along with two other express services on Corridor 6 and 9. The express route was made to shorten passenger's travel time during peak hours. The express service operates from 06:00 to 09:00 and it only took around 35 minutes from Pluit to Kota BRT station. Transjakarta Bus Rapid Transit service in Jakarta

Transjakarta or Jakarta BRT is a bus rapid transit (BRT) system in Jakarta, Indonesia. The first BRT system in Southeast Asia, it commenced operations on 15 January 2004 to provide a fast public transport system to help reduce rush hour traffic. The system is considered as the first revolutionary public transit mode in the capital city of Indonesia. The buses run in dedicated lanes (busways), and ticket prices are subsidised by the regional government. Transjakarta has the world's longest BRT system, which operates about 4,300 buses. Transjakarta aims to have 50 percent of its fleet be electric buses by 2027. By 2030, the aim is for the entire Transjakarta ecosystem to use electric buses. As of November 2023, it serves an average of 1.134 million passengers daily.

MetroMini Former Public Transportation in Jakarta, Indonesia

The MetroMini minibus system was a major part of the public transport system of Jakarta. There were reportedly over 3,000 buses in the MetroMini fleet in mid-2012. The buses are similar to the parallel Kopaja system which also provides transport services, on different routes, across Jakarta. The distinctive MetroMini buses are orange and blue with a white stripe running along the length of the bus. Buses provide seating for around 20-30 people with, often, an equal number crammed into limited standing room so the buses are often overcrowded. But at 2015 Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama stopped all of MetroMini's bus operations because of a MetroMini vs KRL Commuter Line crash. If MetroMini wants to operate again, it has to join Transjakarta like the Kopaja as a feeder bus. Many routes are/will replaced/replaced by Minitrans and Metrotrans buses.
