Machu Pitumarka (hispanicized spelling Machu Pitumarca, Machupitumarca) is an archaeological site with ruins of walls in Peru. It is situated in the Cusco Region, Canchis Province, Pitumarca District. [1] Machu Pitumarka lies on a hill northeast of Pitumarka (Pitumarca) at the southern shore of the river Ch'illkamayu.
Machu Picchu is a 15th-century Inca citadel located in the Eastern Cordillera of southern Peru on a 2,430-meter (7,970 ft) mountain ridge. Often referred to as the "Lost City of the Incas", it is the most familiar icon of the Inca Empire. It is located in the Machupicchu District within Urubamba Province above the Sacred Valley, which is 80 kilometers (50 mi) northwest of Cusco. The Urubamba River flows past it, cutting through the Cordillera and creating a canyon with a tropical mountain climate. In reference to the site’s name, for most English or Spanish speakers, the first 'c' in Picchu is silent. In English, the name is pronounced or, in Spanish as or, and in Quechua as.
Hiram Bingham III was an American academic, explorer and politician. In 1911 he publicized the existence of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, rediscovered with the guidance of local indigenous farmers. Later, Bingham served as the 69th Governor of Connecticut for a single day in 1925—the shortest term in history. He had been elected in 1924 as governor, but was also elected to the Senate and chose that position. He served as a member of the United States Senate until 1933.

Machupicchu or Machupicchu Pueblo, also known as Aguas Calientes, is a location in Peru situated in the Cusco Region, Urubamba Province. It is the seat of the Machupicchu District. Machupicchu lies at the Vilcanota River. It is the closest access point to the historical site of Machu Picchu which is 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) away or about a 90-minute walk. There are many hotels and restaurants for tourists, as well as natural hot baths which gave the town its colloquial Spanish name.
Huayna Picchu, Quechua: Wayna Pikchu, is a mountain in Peru around which the Urubamba River bends. It is located in the Cusco Region, Urubamba Province, Machupicchu District. It rises over Machu Picchu, the so-called lost city of the Incas. The Incas built a trail up the side of the Huayna Picchu and built temples and terraces on its top. The peak of Huayna Picchu is 2,693 metres (8,835 ft) above sea level, or about 260 metres (850 ft) higher than Machu Picchu.
Llaqtapata (Quechua) llaqta place, pata elevated place / above, at the top / edge, bank, shore, pronounced 'yakta-pahta', Hispanicized Llactapata) is an archaeological site about 5 km (3.1 mi) east of Machu Picchu. It was believed that the steps were a control gate for those who enter and exited the Sanctuary.

Intihuatana at the archaeological site of Machu Picchu is a notable ritual stone associated with the astronomic clock or calendar of the Inca in South America. Machu Picchu was thought to have been built c. 1450 by the Sapa Inca Pachacuti as a country estate. In the late 16th century, the Viceroy Francisco de Toledo and the clergy destroyed those Intihuatana which they could find. They did so as they believed that the Incas' religion was a blasphemy and the religious significance of the Intihuatana could be a political liability. The Intihuatana of Machu Picchu was found intact by Bingham in 1911, indicating that the Spanish conquerors had not found it. Intihuatana was damaged on September 8, 2000 when a crane being used in an ad shoot toppled over and chipped off a piece of the granite.
Machu Such'i Qhuchi or Machu Such'i Q'uchi is a mountain in the Apolobamba mountain range in the Bolivian Andes, about 5,679 metres (18,632 ft) high. It is situated near the Peruvian border in the La Paz Department, Franz Tamayo Province, Pelechuco Municipality, east of Such'i Lake.
Machu Colca, Machuqolqa or Machu Qollqa is an archaeological site in Peru. It lies in the Cusco Region, Urubamba Province, Huayllabamba District, a few minutes outside of Chinchero. Machu Colca is situated at about 3,850 metres (12,631 ft) of elevation, above the left bank of the Urubamba River, near the village of Raqch'i (Raqchi).

Machu Pirqa is an archaeological site of the Chachapoyas culture in Peru. It is located in the Amazonas Region, Chachapoyas Province, Magdalena District. Machu Pirqa is situated at a height of about 1,900 metres (6,234 ft) on the left bank of the river Kuntichaka (Condechaca), an affluent of the Utcubamba River.

Osjollo Anante is a mountain in the Vilcanota mountain range in the Andes of Peru near a lake of the same name. The mountain is about 5,500 metres (18,045 ft) high. It is located in the Cusco Region, Canchis Province, Pitumarca District, and in the Quispicanchi Province, Ocongate District. Osjollo Anante lies southwest of the mountains Jatunñaño Punta and Chumpe, west of Uriyuq, northwest of Cuncapata and northwest of the lake Sibinacocha and northeast of Japu Japu.
Viluyo is a mountain in the Vilcanota mountain range in the Andes of Peru, about 5,200 metres (17,060 ft) high. It is located in the Cusco Region, Canchis Province, Pitumarca District, east of Sibinacocha. It lies south and southwest of Condoriquiña.
Recuerdo de Machu Picchu 3 (Las terrazas) (English: Memory of Machu Picchu 3 (The Terraces)), is an outdoor 1984 oxidized iron sculpture by Colombian artist Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar, installed at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston's Lillie and Hugh Roy Cullen Sculpture Garden, in the U.S. state of Texas. The sculpture was purchased by the museum with funds provided by the Caribbean Art Fund and the Caroline Wiess Law Accessions Endowment Fund. It measures 55 1/8 x 114 3/16 x 41 5/16 inches.
Vinicunca, or Winikunka, also called Montaña de Siete Colores, Montaña de Colores or Montaña Arcoíris, is a mountain in the Andes of Peru with an altitude of 5,200 metres (17,100 ft) above sea level. It is located on the road to the Ausangate mountain, in the Cusco region, between Cusipata District, province of Quispicanchi, and Pitumarca District, province of Canchis.
