Mount Holly is a neighborhood in the Southwest District of Baltimore, located between the neighborhoods of Fairmont (south), Walbrook (east) and Garwyn Oaks (north). Its boundaries are drawn by Denison Street (east), Clifton Avenue (southwest), Gwynns Falls Parkway (north), Windsor Mill Road (northwest), and West North Avenue (south). Gwynns Falls Leakin Park is located to the west of Mount Holly. [1] [2]

Baltimore Largest city in Maryland

Baltimore is the largest city in the state of Maryland within the United States. Baltimore was established by the Constitution of Maryland as an independent city in 1729. With a population of 602,495 in 2018, Baltimore is the largest such independent city in the United States. As of 2017, the population of the Baltimore metropolitan area was estimated to be just under 2.802 million, making it the 21th largest metropolitan area in the country. Baltimore is located about 40 miles (60 km) northeast of Washington, D.C., making it a principal city in the Washington-Baltimore combined statistical area (CSA), the fourth-largest CSA in the nation, with a calculated 2018 population of 9,797,063.

Walbrook is a neighborhood in West Baltimore, located along West North Avenue. Coppin State College is located in Walbrook.

Garwyn Oaks, Baltimore neighborhood statistical area in Baltimore, Maryland, United States

Garwyn Oaks is a neighborhood in the Northwest District of Baltimore, located between the neighborhoods of Windsor Hills and Hanlon Longwood. The boundaries of its somewhat rectangular shape are marked by Woodhaven Avenue (north), Gwynns Falls Parkway (south), Garrison Boulevard (east) and Chelsea Terrace (west).

Demographics

The population of Mount Holly, measured at 1,023 in 2011, was almost exclusively (96.5%) black. Median household income for the neighborhood in 2011 was $31,613, slightly below the citywide median of $38,721. Residents of Mount Holly living at an income below the poverty line were estimated at 26.1 percent in 2011, also below the citywide rate of 25.1 percent. [1] The average sale price of homes in Mount Holly was $27,415 in 2013. [2]

Public transportation

Two transit bus routes provide public transportation to the neighborhood's residents, with connections to the Baltimore Metro, Light Rail and MARC train as well as other bus routes. Both have stops along Clifton Avenue in Mount Holly.

Route 15 (MTA Maryland)

Route 15 is a bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore and its suburbs. The line currently runs from Security Square Mall, Westview Mall, Windsor Hills, or Walbrook Junction through downtown Baltimore and northeast to Overlea, with selected peak hour express trips to Perry Hall. The main roads on which it operates include Security Boulevard, Windsor Mill Road, Forest Park Avenue, Poplar Grove Street, Edmondson Avenue, Saratoga Street, Gay Street, and Belair Road, and is one of the most heavily used bus routes operated by the MTA.

Security Square Mall

Security Square Mall is a mall in the suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland, United States. The mall features over 100 stores and restaurants, as well as a food court, with Burlington, Macy's, and Sears serving as anchor stores. One section of the mall, Seoul Plaza, previously included Korean shops and restaurants; however, most of these establishments had closed by 2010. Security Square Mall is located adjacent to the North American School of Trades.

Route 91 (MTA Maryland)

Route 91 is a bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore. The line currently runs from Sinai Hospital to City Hall, serving the communities of Pimlico, Arlington, Walbrook, and Bolton Hill, Coppin State College and the corridors of Garrison Boulevard and Eutaw Place. The line has the second-highest farebox recovery rate of all MTA bus lines.
